Privacy & Security Policy
ipaddresslocation.net is committed to privacy by design; we do not require accounts and we avoid storing personal data; your public IP is processed ephemerally to show your IP, ASN/ISP, and an approximate IP location.
Short-lived caching for performance. We use a short-lived cache so repeat lookups can be served quickly; caches are purged periodically.
For details on how IP geolocation works and its limitations, see our website disclaimer and try the IP geolocation map.
Information We Process
Public IP address (ephemeral): transiently processed to display your IP, ASN/ISP, and approximate geolocation; may be held briefly in a short-lived cache to speed up repeat lookups; purged periodically.
Derived geolocation (ephemeral): approximate IP location used in features such as the IP Geolocation Map; may be held briefly in a short-lived cache for performance; purged periodically.
Device/browser metadata: standard headers (for example, user agent) used to render pages and to prevent abuse.
Third-party cookies/identifiers: analytics and advertising services may set cookies or similar identifiers.
At-a-Glance: Data, Purpose, Basis, Retention
IP address (ephemeral) — Purpose: show IP, ASN/ISP, and approximate IP location — Legal basis: legitimate interests — Retention: short-lived cache for performance; purged periodically.
Derived geolocation — Purpose: map/location features — Legal basis: legitimate interests — Retention: short-lived cache for performance; purged periodically.
Device/browser metadata — Purpose: render pages, ensure compatibility, basic anti-abuse — Legal basis: legitimate interests — Retention: minimal, transient.
Third-party cookies (Analytics/Ads) — Purpose: aggregate usage metrics and advertising — Legal basis: consent or partner policies (region-dependent) — Retention: per provider TTL.
How We Use Information
Provide core functionality such as showing your IP, IPv4/IPv6 status, ASN/ISP, approximate IP location, and time zone.
Maintain and improve performance including caching non-personal resources and using a short-lived cache as noted above.
Prevent abuse using minimal, non-identifying signals.
Measure aggregate usage (Google Analytics) and display advertising (Google AdSense).
What We Do Not Do
We do not create user accounts or profile you across the web.
We do not retain your IP address beyond the session except for the short-lived cache described above.
We do not sell your personal information.
Third-Party Services
We rely on hosting, CDN, and security providers and IP geolocation databases to deliver the Site; we also use Google Analytics (aggregated usage statistics) and Google AdSense (ad delivery). To learn how Google uses information from partner sites, see the Google partner-sites policy.
Cookies
Non-essential cookies may be set by third parties such as Google Analytics and Google AdSense; you can control cookies via your browser and partner tools including the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, Google Ads settings, and the NAI consumer opt-out.
Data Retention
Our design avoids retaining personal data for the core services; optional cookies persist for their provider-defined lifetimes.
Contact & Support Communications
What we keep: your email address, the message you send, and basic metadata such as timestamps.
Why: to respond to your request, provide support, and maintain service quality.
How long: only as long as needed for the purposes above or to comply with legal obligations.
Deletion on request: email correspondence and contact-form messages can be deleted on request and we will erase non-essential copies unless retention is required by law or for security or audit reasons.
Security
We use HTTPS/TLS, hardened hosting, and data minimization; no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights & Choices
EEA/UK/CH: non-essential purposes (analytics/ads) are consent-based and managed via the consent banner and the link above.
United States (state laws): where applicable, you can opt out of “sale/share” and targeted advertising via the consent banner and the link above. We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) where supported by your browser.
Access/Deletion: because we do not retain IP-based personal data, there is generally nothing to access or delete; email correspondence can be deleted on request.
Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13.
International Use
Processing may occur wherever our servers or providers operate; we apply the same privacy-by-design approach everywhere.
Changes
We may revise this Policy and will update the “Last updated” date below when we do.
