Screen and Browser Dimensions

Screen size uses the dimensions available for page layout. Browser window size includes the whole window, while the viewport covers only the web page. Scaled screen resolution is the screen size multiplied by the device pixel ratio.

What the Report Shows

The browser and device report appears automatically when you open this page with JavaScript enabled. It shows the details your browser shares, including screen dimensions, language settings, and supported features. You do not need to install a program or enter a device model.

The information comes from interfaces your browser makes available to a website. It is not a complete hardware inventory. A missing value means the browser did not provide usable information for that field, which can reflect compatibility, permissions, or privacy restrictions rather than a missing physical component.

Browser Names and Version Details

The browser name, version, engine, operating system, and device type are interpreted from the browser's reported information. User agent text and client hints can help identify a browser, but they do not always reveal its full version or the precise device. Some fields are therefore explicitly marked as estimates.

When troubleshooting, keep the original user agent string with the interpreted name. A browser can reduce or alter the information it exposes, and several browsers can share the same rendering engine. An engine name is not necessarily the name of the application you opened.

Comparing Screen, Window, and Viewport Sizes

Screen size describes the dimensions exposed for page layout. Available screen size excludes areas reserved by the operating system, such as a taskbar, while browser window size includes the outer window. Viewport size describes the area available to the web page inside that window.

The device pixel ratio relates layout pixels to display scaling. The scaled screen resolution shown here is calculated by multiplying the reported screen size by that ratio. Treat it as a derived value, not an independent measurement of the display panel's native resolution.

Resizing the browser or changing zoom can affect these readings. When reporting a layout problem, include the viewport size and zoom conditions rather than giving only the monitor's advertised resolution. The same screen can display a page at several different effective widths.

Understanding Hardware and Storage Estimates

The available logical processor count and memory value describe what the browser reports to this page. Memory can be rounded or capped to reduce the amount of identifying information exposed. Neither field should replace the operating system's hardware details when exact specifications are required.

Graphics information depends on the available graphics interfaces and the details the browser is willing to disclose. The renderer may be software based, and the physical GPU model may be hidden. Battery information can also be unavailable even on a device that has a battery.

Storage usage and the estimated quota concern storage available to this site through the browser. They do not report the total capacity or free space of your physical drive. A quota is an estimate governed by browser policy, not a reservation of that amount of disk space.

Language, Time, and Connection Details

The language fields show the browser's preferred language settings. The time fields use the device's reported time zone, UTC offset, and clock. These settings affect how dates and times appear in the report. The page does not compare the device clock with a time service.

Connection type, estimated quality, download speed, latency, and data saver status are included when the browser provides them. The page does not run a bandwidth test or send a timed series of network requests to measure those values. An unavailable estimate is not a measured speed of zero.

The Optional Camera and Microphone Check

Camera, microphone, and audio device details begin as Not checked yet. Select Check camera and microphone only if you want to inspect those devices. The browser may request permission before revealing their names.

If the check gains access to a camera or microphone, it closes that temporary access immediately. The result reports whether access ended or could not be obtained. A browser may retain the site permission after the temporary access stops; that permission can be reviewed separately in its settings.

Copying Device Information

Copy device information copies the displayed groups as text. Review the report before sharing it, since device names, language settings, and other details can identify aspects of your setup. Include only what is relevant to the problem you are reporting.
